Goal

Young professionals often struggle to track spending due to invisible UPI payments, recurring subscriptions, and overly complex budgeting apps. SpendSense simplifies money management with clear spending insights, achievable goals, smart nudges, and a more engaging user experience.

Problem

Most finance apps rely on dashboards, charts, and reports that require users to actively analyse their spending. While they provide information, they often fail to keep users engaged, making it easy to abandon budgeting habits after the initial setup.

Process

The design process focused on reducing friction at every stage of the experience. Instead of overwhelming users with data, the app prioritises clear actions, timely insights, and simple visual cues that help users understand their finances without feeling intimidated or judged.

SpendSense uses a tight visual palette designed to make finance feel less clinical. Dark backgrounds reduce noise, green drives action, amber signals caution.

The full app flow mapped out. Every screen, every decision point, every path a user can take through SpendSense.

The Onboarding gets personal fast. Four questions & one report built around you.

The full Onboarding flow.

The Home screen shows where you stand at a glance. Spending so far, your active goal, and a nudge if something needs attention.

The Spends tab keeps every transaction in one place. UPI payments sync automatically, cash is logged in three taps. Nothing slips through.

The Budget tab puts you in control of future spending. Category limits, subscription radar, and spend triggers all in one place.

The Goals tab turns saving into something worth tracking. Set a target, watch it move, and never lose sight of why you're saving.

The Spend Triggers feature checks in before you spend, not after. When your budget is running low, you get a quiet heads up. No guilt, just the information you need to decide for yourself.

The main app in action. Home, Spends, Budget, and Goals all connected.

Result

SpendSense might not fix anyone's finances overnight. But it might be the first finance app a Gen Z user actually keeps on their home screen past day three. That's where habit change starts.
